Visual and Performing Arts Program

The Woodland Joint Unified School District offers a variety of options for students in the Visual and Performing Arts. In elementary school, all fourth grade students learn the violin. They receive instruction once per week with one of the district's strings teachers. In 5th and 6th grade, students can choose to continue with strings, or they can learn a band instrument. All students are provided with an instrument.
In middle and high school, students can take a variety of courses in music, including band, guitar, mariachi, strings, piano, and choir. Students interested in drama have the opportunity to take drama in middle school at Douglass, or theater at Woodland or Pioneer High Schools. In the visual arts, there are many courses to choose from, including Color and Design, Art and Culture, Advanced Placement Art, Ceramics, and Jewelry Art.
