Board Meeting Summary Oct. 13, 2022
At the Oct. 13, 2022 Regular Board of Trustees meeting, the Board:
- Approved Resolution 10-23: National Bullying Prevention Month - October 2022. President Jake Whitaker presented the resolution to elementary school principals who are leading their schools in our Districtwide anti-bullying campaign.The Board previously adopted Board Policy 5131.2: Bullying and supports the prevention, intervention, and ultimate elimination of all types of bullying as part of a coordinated school safety effort in all WJUSD schools.
- Approved Resolution 11-23: Domestic Violence Awareness Month - October 2022. The Board encourages all Californians to learn more about the extent of domestic violence, work together with local domestic violence programs, and assume the responsibility to make the message clear, both by word and by action.
- Reviewed an update on WJUSD’s new websites. The District launched new websites for the District Office and all school sites from Oct. 4 - 6, 2022. The District also created a website feedback form to collect community input and feedback on the websites.
- Approved the 2022-2023 Comprehensive School Safety Plans for all WJUSD elementary school sites. All schools are required to have school safety plans in accordance with state education codes and regulations. The updated and Board-approved school safety plans are listed below:
- Reviewed a staff update on Special Education Services and Inclusion Implementation. The report included an update on new Assembly Bills (AB1113 and AB 181) and their impact on Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and offers of a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE); our District’s current inclusion practices and supports; and next steps for our District.
- Reviewed the Quarterly Report on Williams Uniform Complaints (Written Report). A Williams Complaint regards instructional materials; facilities conditions; or teacher vacancies or misassignments. No Williams Complaints were filed with any WJUSD school in the quarterly report.
