Fentanyl Awareness

Social media platforms have increasingly become spaces where individuals, including young people, may be exposed to illegal and dangerous substances.

We urge you to have open conversations with your child about the dangers of synthetic drugs, including fentanyl, and the risks associated with social media interactions involving unknown individuals or suspicious content.

Here are some steps you can take to help protect your child:

  • Monitor Social Media Use: Regularly check your child’s social media activity and discuss any concerns.

  • Encourage Open Communication: Create a safe space where your child feels comfortable discussing what they encounter online.

  • Be Aware of Warning Signs: Watch for changes in behavior, such as withdrawal, secretive actions, or unfamiliar items that could indicate exposure to drugs.

  • Educate About Dangers: Share age-appropriate information about the risks of synthetic drugs, including the potentially deadly effects of fentanyl. You may also consider using this online resource to discuss these topics with your child (You Think You Know).

  • Seek Support from a School Counselor: If your child is struggling with peer pressure or substance use, please reach out to your student’s school counselor for guidance.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting the safety and well-being of our children.

Together, we can help protect our students and raise awareness about this important issue.
