May 2022
Dear WJUSD Families and Community,
We’re just a few short weeks away from closing out the school year and I am proud of all that we have been able to accomplish thus far! It is hard to believe that the last day of school, Friday, June 10th, will soon be here.
During the next few weeks, students will be focused on completing their final tests and assignments, participating in end-of-the-school-year festivities, and getting ready for their promotion and graduation ceremonies.
It’s definitely an exciting time filled with many activities!
As we get ready to finish the school year, below are some District updates and opportunities for students over the summer.
Respectfully,
Elodia Ortega-Lampkin
Superintendent
Superintendent Meet and Greets
I would like to say thank you to WJUSD families and staff for attending our Superintendent Meet-and-Greet events this month. It was a pleasure to meet you and to share some highlights of our District’s goals.
If you missed them, there will be more opportunities in the fall for us to get to know one another. I’m looking forward to meeting you.

WJUSD will honor students for their linguistic achievements at our annual Reclassification and State Seal of Biliteracy Ceremony on Monday, May 23, at 6 p.m. at the Woodland High School football stadium.

The full bell schedule will be published as soon as it is finalized.
Elementary After School Programs Expanding Next Year
We’re excited to announce that WJUSD is currently working on expanding our after school program starting next school year by making it available at more schools and open to more students.
The program currently called ASES (After School Education and Safety) will soon be called the “Expanded Learning Opportunity Program” and will be available at all our elementary schools, including Gibson, Spring Lake, and Zamora, and will be open to students from transitional kindergarten (TK) to sixth grade.
More information regarding registration will be available in early August 2022 as we are still developing the program.
